Atari external sync test. A Boss DR-55 drum machine sends clock pulses to a modified Atari 800XL. The Atari is running a simple interrupt handler that first randomizes the pitch of one of the Atari's synthesizer channels, then emits a gate pulse from one of the Atari's joystick ports. The gate pulse triggers a simple decay envelope circuit that the Atari's audio output is plugged into.

Atari external sync test. An Atari 800XL is sync'ed with a DR-55 drum machine which is triggering some semi-random notes from the Atari's POKEY chip. This is all being done with an interrupt handler (the sync pulse comes in on the BREAK key) — you can hear the Atari keyclick sounds in this recording because the computer operator is POKEing values into memory from BASIC while the test is running.

P·HYDRA demonstration recording. A fairly long vamp with the program, testing-out different levels of FM intensity. Recorded from the Atari800 emulator.

I9Q(html)audio/webm
P·HYDRA demonstration recording. PCM playback (a Roland TR-909 kick drum sample) and the sine FM oscillator both use POKEY channel 4 in this recording. The PCM playback interrupts the frequency modulation and it is not restored when the sample ends, leaving the sound chip in a somewhat indeterminate state. Recorded from the Atari800 emulator.

P·HYDRA demonstration recording. Manipulating timbres via AUDCTL and modulator sequences. Recorded from an Atari 800XL running through a Guitarix amp/FX chain.
